Temperature

Both cold weather and high temperatures are not good for guinea pigs, so avoid extreme temperatures. Everything between 17 and 25 degrees Celsius is good.

Communication

Guinea pigs are animals capable of performing a multitude of sounds to communicate. The best thing to do when they emit a sound is to show them affection.

Cleaning

It is important to keep the cage clean as hygiene makes them feel comfortable and keeps them out of possible fungal diseases.

Basic Diet

One of the basic ingredients for them is hay, and Cunipic has a varied range of it, even one that grows in the Pyrenees in a completely natural way, which is called Wild Hay. So, make sure that guinea pigs have always hay at their disposal and as a supplement. Hay is essential in Guinea Pigs diet. It contributes to a better digestion for its high fiber supply and stimulates metabolism.

Guinea pigs are unable to synthesize vitamin C, so you have to supply it on a regular basis. A good source of this vitamin is green and red pepper. In order for your guinea pig to grow healthy and strong it is important to expose them to direct sunlight (avoiding the noon) for proper calcium absorption.

Little by little, you can also give your guinea pig some fresh vegetables and fruits as a reward, but never replace with it its regular diet. Vegetables like carrot, cabbage, alfalfa, lettuce, red and green pepper, dandelion, and fruits such as pineapple, peach, cherry, strawberry, apple, watermelon, pear, grapes, (all without seeds), will be a delight for your little friend. You can also give him/her dry bread so your guinea pig enjoys gnawing it and wears its teeth properly.

Relaxation

In order to gain its confidence fast and make your guinea pig to relax, one of the tricks that works the best it to stroke its ears, head and especially the back, as this is a part of its body where the mother caresses when babies, and will soon consider us as their protector and a friend.
