We are nearing the end of this series of articles. We are in the penultimate one, since after all these gestures there is little more left to explain.
See if you have ever seen your rabbit in any of these situations:
Snarl
Surely this is the indication that he is angry and we may receive a bite or scratch if we do not leave him alone for a while.
Petting
That the rabbit lies down next to us, puts its head between our fingers, taps us with its nose... these are signs that it is asking us for a little caresses and love. It is important, even if we do not have time, to briefly agree to his requests to let him know that we have understood him and that we will be there for him as soon as we can. It also means that he trusts us and already considers us his friends, we cannot waste these opportunities that our little companion offers us, and always reward him with a good session of caresses and pampering.
Grito
Better never to have to hear it, since it is usually indicative of very strong pain or even death.
Purr and gnash teeth
Even if our bunny is not a cat, if he is comfortable with us, we may hear him purr and he may even grind his teeth.
Becoming dead
If we see that our rabbit is suddenly stretched out on the ground, with its eyes wide open and its ears back, surely it has perceived a very great danger and is playing dead to go unnoticed. Once it has detected that there is no longer any danger, it will return to its normal position again.
Attack
As we have already commented in some other article, rabbits are territorial, and they defend their territory better than anyone else. If we see that our rabbit begins to growl, throws its ears back and its hair begins to stand on end, it is best that we move away now Otherwise, it can launch a defensive attack and bite the "enemy" or hit it with its paws.
In the next and latest related article, we will explain the signs of breeding and marking behavior!
