Cages for our Guinea Pigs

In this article we want to explain some tips for preparing Cages for Guinea Pigs.

So let's prepare the cage for our future guinea pig!

As with any other pet, the decision to get a guinea pig has to be made by the whole family. Once the decision to buy a guinea pig has been made, we will look for a place in the house to put the cage.

Cages for guinea pigs They should be placed in illuminated places, but where the sun does not touch directly, with a constant temperature between 18 and 24 degrees, where there are no drafts and close to where we are most hours a day, so that they get used to us.

The most recommended guinea pig cages have a plastic base, because it is easier to clean. We will avoid cages with a grid, because there is a danger of hurting the legs. The recommended minimum size of cages for guinea pigs is: 65x40x35 cm (length x width x height). Although if we place accessories such as: a booth, the feeder, the henera, the corner, some toy, ramp or hammock, it is recommended that the cage be larger, about 20 square cm more. You can also consider the possibility of having more than one guinea pig to keep each other company, so the cage should also be larger in proportion to the number of guinea pigs we have.

guinea pigs need exercise like most animals. We recommend that you put the cages for guinea pigs in safe places in the house where there are no cables to gnaw on, open doors, holes or corners that are difficult to access, since being very scary and small, they may be placed in some corner that is inaccessible to us and become stay still for hours.

At the base of the cages for guinea pigs is usually put paper nature litter or wood as ecological bedding (it is usually placed only in the middle of the cage, and on the side where they usually relieve themselves). In the other half we will put the paper sweet dreams. This product will allow guinea pigs to make their burrows, providing them with a padded and warm base for their naps and rest in general.
