We have decided to buy a ferret and the big question that comes to us now is: where will you live and spend most of the day?
As we have told you about and delved into in previous articles, our ferret's house can be a cage, which must have dimensions in which it can move easily, or, if we have enough space in our house, we can have a room for him.
THE CAGES FOR FERRETS
Keeping it in a cage is a way of keeping it somewhat more controlled, but we must bear in mind that the ferret is a very active animal, so it will be necessary to take it out for 2 or 3 hours a day so that it can move, run and play. As we have mentioned before, the cage must have minimum dimensions so that our ferret can move without difficulty. (about 90 cm long, 60 cm wide and about 70 cm high approximately). It is advisable to have two levels. In this way our ferret will be able to exercise during the time it is inside it.
ROOM FOR OUR FERRET
If, on the contrary, we choose to have it loose in a room, we must make sure that we do not have loose cables in it that it can bite, holes through which it can access and that our windows have some security device to prevent possible escapes or falls of our ferret ( mosquito nets for example)
OUTDOOR SPACES
There is also the option of adapting an area for our ferret outside our house (terrace, balcony, roof), as long as we also make sure that it cannot escape. We must know that the ferret can withstand low temperatures but not heat, much less direct sun. So, if we decide to keep him outside, we must provide him with a space where the sun does not touch and a shelter where he can get in during the day, since much of the activity of ferrets is at dawn and dusk.
